EVENT INFORMATION

Race of Porvoo (ROP) 2009 will be organised on the 15th -16th of August, 2009 in the industrial area of Tarmola, in Porvoo. Porvoo is one of Finland's oldest cities and, because of its picturesque old town, a very popular summer destination for international travellers. The two-day motor racing event includes races in three different classes and also the Race of the Stars, where the world legends of the sport rival against each other in three different types of cars. The Saturday evening program also includes a charitable auction and the exciting day is brought to a head by a concert that features the internationally acclaimed Finnish rock group Negative!!

Vartti Racing Stars

Without a doubt, the most anticipated event of the Saturday afternoon is the Vartti Racing Star, that is the Race of the Stars, that will showcase some of Finland's hottest motor racing stars, and a few top-ranked reinforcements from abroad, driving on the street tracks of Porvoo.

According to the current list of participants, the drivers that have been confirmed so far are J.J.Lehto, Marcus Grönholm, Mikko Hirvonen, Sebastian Lindholm, Toni Gardemeister and Mikko Eskelinen, while other possible candidates awaiting confirmation are Johnny Herbert, Markko Märtin, J-M Latvala and Teemu Selänne.

These high-flyers will compete in the Race of the Stars, Saturday's main event, where they battle in three types of race cars. The men will take their places behind the wheels o f a rally car, a Legends car and a Bullspeed Krosscart- vehicle.

FOR THE SPECTATOR

In 2008, the ROP gathered well above 10.000 spectators. In comparison to last year, the event is no longer free of charge but the ticket prices are extremely affordable, and just like last year, part of the event proceeds will be donated to charity. One ticket will buy you entrance to several events on Saturday it will include motor racing, a concert, a charitable auction and much more. On Sunday, you will have a chance to watch some serious racing, in addition to showcasing of several different racing classes.

The advance ticket sales have already begun at the Lippu piste- outlets, in the R-kioski- chain and online at www.lippu.fi.

It is also possible to win tickets by participating in the different competitions organised on our website. The Finnish newspaper Vartti will also be casting lots among its readership.

There is a limited amount of tickets on sale, so make sure you don't miss out on a great event, where you have a chance to meet and greet all of Finland's biggest motor racing stars!

VIP- PACKAGES

The VIP-package entails entrance to the event, the VIP area, dining at the VIP- facility and marked spectator stands. Saturday's VIP pass will get you an unforgettable day of motor racing and an evening of fun and great music to the beat of Negative. Sunday's program will guarantee tough races, showcase driving and lots of other activities!

The prices of the VIP-packages are 95€ (VAT 0%) for Saturday and 78€ (VAT 0%) for Sunday. Saturday's VIP-package includes two meals with drinks; Sunday's package one meal and a beverage. When ordering your VIP tickets, you may also order additional drink tokens at the price of 2,5€ / 5€.

DRIVING ALONG

During the weekend, you have a chance to experience the thrill of the speed in genuine race cars. You may drive along in two-seater Formula 1 cars, a Race of the Stars rally car or in a showcase drive, and even aboard the Drifters.

If you are a bit wary about driving shotgun yourself, you can offer a ride aboard the top drivers to a client, an employee, a stag night hero or even your mother-in-law!
